I realized I'm not a mod at many forums so I can't prune much. I've gone to my spot and taken out threads that had to do with personal issues from members who haven't posted in many years.

I've received word that there's a exhibition coming to Lexington at the end of the month with healers, psychics and merchandizers. Been to it before several years ago and even though I was by myself had a good time.

I'm thinking of asking my Native American employee and maybe her daughter to join me.If I get to go should I give out our website address?

I could mention that we're going to renovate the site..but if we still have the Heard it on the Grapevine, people could expand the knowlege base.

Really don't want to promote the site if there's any objection or reservation. Thought maybe like minded people might be interested.

Maxecat promote as much as you can. Word of mouth is the best advertisement because it's free.

Eagle have you been able to get in touch with Kantarra yet as to what she's been looking into for the site?

Edit: I've went through all the different threads with the exception of those Maxecat already went through, and pruned them. The biggest
decrease was in As the Wind Blows since we had several out of date
invitation threads to different events. I'm thinking an event thread in that
section would be better so we don't have to clean up excess threads. Maybe call it You Are Invited....

Ok here's one idea, everyone let me know what changes you would make.

Love that rich background colour,Weesa,beautiful.

I had an email from Hecate3fold and she agrees that placing a Welcoming
Table or Center in the most prominent spot would be very helpful.

Maybe at such a section we could have threads that offered profile information and a brief introduction to the site and its various sections.

Now,as to the secitons,do we have too many?

Could we combine some areas?

I'm thinking in terms of keeping a Spiritual section dealing with personal beliefs, lessons, spell, charms etc ,

keeping a General info section, which would probably used the most..that would be a place for suggesting movies, books, lecture series, personal wellness and general conversations about stuff..Phoebe's place for another example.

finally a section for the big issues concerning the world, the environment, political action, charitable groups of good report..

We might not need too many moderators, and while there might be a lot of threads in one section,at least you'd remember where you posted your thoughts on a particular subject.

Anyway those are my thoughts on revamping the site.

I've been thinking about the possibility of combing sections too.
I think we could safely combine Hope Springs Eternal, Second Wind and Life After Death into the Sharing Sacred Fire section.
Then we could rename that area Spiritual Pathways and Meditations and completely remove the Meditation Garden. We could move Laughter Is The Best Medicine to Personal Wellness.
Fanning The Flames could be combined with Random Acts of Kindness then moved to World Peace along with If We All Share A Little Then We All have A Lot! So that we could remove Feeding The Phoenix's Fire. We could use that title as the title for the charity directory instead of If We All Share A Little Then We All have A Lot! which is rather long.
As for a general area that is the On Phoenix's Wings area it's already set up for general discussion threads in As The Wind Blows and the I Heard It On the Grapevine section is for posting threads to advertise different sites that members may find interesting instead of clogging up the rest of the sections with spam.

What's everybody else think?

Yes, that's what I had in mind...sections within sections where certain topics could have their own place but with less chance of confusion.

Sometimes topics of interest overlap, especially when you're dealing with health issues, spiritual paths, even favorite books find themselves popping up in multiple threads.
So having sections where the crossover would be logical seems an easy way to keep conversations ongoing but contained.

But I do think it important that a welcoming center that explains how to use the site and where to find general and specific topics would greatly enhance the Fire.

We can add a thread for that in Meet the Project:Phoenix Fire Team!

That's the idea I was going for Maxecat to have similiar threads grouped together for easier navigation.

Sounds like a plan,Weesa. Would it be that hard to move things around without deconstructing the entire site?

A lot of thought went into the original design and I'd hate to step on toes or hurt feelings by shifting things around.

Having said that, I still think that making the navigation simpler would encourage more participation.

If everyone agrees to it I could have everything moved in no time without deconstructing the site at all.

I suggest you check with Eagle Skyfire as one of the administrators for approval. If she thinks it's a good plan, let's do it and start over.

Do you think it necessary to check with all the mods or just the ones who are still posting? Will it be necessary to redo the moderators when topics are combined?

trying to think of all the loose ends.

I'll send her a message asking about all those things. I think instead of having one moderator per section we should allow moderators to be able to moderate the entire site. Would you be ok with that? It would allow mods to deal with issues on the spot instead of waiting for an admin. to log in.

That's fine. It's not like HPANA which is so large it needs constant monitoring.

I think we might eliminate threads/topics that have been dormant for more than a year. I'm still not sure why there have been a lot of views but no answering posts except from our original members.
If it hasn't encouraged a discussion, why keep it?

I'm including threads I've started as well..if it hasn't been used in a year,it obviously hasn't inspired interest and we can make room for something different.
