Hey ladies & gents - I have a fun idea for a charity challenge.
Pick a skill, an item, or a donation and donate to the elderly, children's needs, senior living center, or??? Letters/christmas cards to injured vets? Going to your local nursing home with some nice unscented lotion and give hand massages. Call some friends and make it a community effort - someone will have something to donate (gas, ribbons, cookie dough), have a cookie bake off & take the lions share to shut ins? Or maybe just calling on friends & loved ones you have not spoken to in a long time? Let your neighbor know how much you appreciate them raking your leaves when you couldn't?
Let's pass around some good vibrations!
I am going to gather greens, I have ribbons, wire, and small ornaments, and going to create swags, garland, and or wreaths to drop off at local nursing homes & assisted living centers. I figure the colors & scents should pass aound good memories?
Just remembering when my mother was in the hospital and nursing home for that last week of her life, how few people seemed to have family or friends visiting. These are our forgotten and invisable citizens.
I know time is precious, and we all seem to have to get by with less.
But remember, you have to give to recieve.
So in the spirit of giving, let's have some fun!
Ladies, start your mental wheels a turning and pick a place you can rise to my challenge! _________________ Friends are the family you choose!

Ok, now I will post the rest - since I can't spell I guess, it is a Charity Challenge - not cherity...
I am also wanting to let you all know that I don't expect others to toot their own horn & shout to the rafters what you have done. This can be a very special, individual idea, or a community wide gathering. Share if you would like, lurk if you just want the ideas.
Some folks don't want or need recognition.
I just had the idea and thought we could all get in the festive mood by sharing wonderful ideas. _________________ Friends are the family you choose!

Sent cans of food with niece and nephew this morning for the can drive to feed hungry children. Will be loading up boxes with coins for the March of Dimes soon. The school that this niece and nephew go to is really great about promoting charitable works and teaching the children the joy of helping others so we give to several causes through the year.
Plus I do all the click daily thingys at Facebook. _________________
